So, James and I are putting our house up for sale this week. Yikes! Here we go. We must be crazy to jump out of our comfort zone like this, but one-two-three JUMP!
We're not moving far, just across the street into the Aspen Meadows subdivision. So we'll still be in our same ward and everything (we LOVE our ward and didn't want to go). And we all know I can't live without the city library, which will now be a two-minute walk from my new backyard. But all of this is contingent on us selling our current home, so . . .anyone want to buy our house?
And all of this talk of contracts, and earnest money, and interest rates, and mortgages, and equity makes me think of how complicated life is now. Back in the day, if Ma wanted a new house, Pa just went and chopped down some trees. Then "Half-Pint" would help him throw the planks together and pound in some penny nails, and voila! A house. No mortgage shopping, no appraisals, no little homesteader building inspectors.
I just compiled my "to-do" list of projects we need to tie up around here before posting that "For Sale" sign, and I must say it looks a little overwhelming. Okay, a lot overwhelming. But if Pa and Half-Pint could do it, so can we. "Shoulder to the Wheel" time!
At least we have indoor plumbing! Poor Ma.

My heart skipped a beat when I read you were moving! Then I read you were still going to be in the ward and I let out a sigh of relief! I love the fact that Karen has a friends in the ward that she loves!
I thought the same thing! So I'm curious as to where in the subdivision you'll be heading. Good luck with the sale of your home! Glad you're not moving far. :)
Good luck getting everything ready! Why the move?
To answer your question, Lacey, we'll be buying the Naegle's home. So just down from you a little bit! Close enough for our girls to have a lemonade stand together if they want to. This is all contingent on us selling our home, though. Crossing fingers!
And Annette, there are lots of reasons why we feel the time is now, including: One: interest rates are really low. Two: Our smaller, starter home has retained its value while the next step up has falling to an affordable price Three: We want another bedroom on our upstairs floor, as our adoption papers are going in again. Four: I feel like my street is too busy for me to be happy about it. Five: We can't keep up with our big yard and need something more managable. Six: A garage would be nice. Seven: It's a good time of year to sell a house with flowers and birdies and blue skies . . .mostly we just feel like the time is right to upgrade into the house we'll be in for awhile!
Good luck with everything! Let us know if you need some help moving. I thought I was going to die last year when we had to move twice. I feel like I know exactly what NOT to do!
I just wanted to let you know that I have decided to go private with my blog, so if you want an invite, please post your email address on my blog by Monday.

Hey guys! Good luck with the home selling. We're in the same boat, so we know how you feel, lol.
On another note, check out this blog I started:

Post a comment, and pass it along to everyone you know. I could really use the help getting it started. Hope all is well.
